First Baptist Church of Guilford is excited to host its first annual 5K Run/Walk for Autism.  Did you know that an estimated 1 in 88 children have an autism spectrum disorder (according to the CDC)?   Did you know that noone really knows the exact cause of autism?  Despite more prevalent resources and ongoing national dialogue concerning children with autism, studies show that many of these resources may still be missing from minority communities, particularly among blacks.  Early diagnosis and early intervention is key.  To date, there is no cure, and FBCOG is inspired to help increase awareness and raise funds to help with research, particularly in the African American community.

ALL AGES ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE!

There is no cost to register; however, all registrants are required solicit sponsors/pledges.   All proceeds from the 5K Run/Walk will benefit the Howard County Autism Society.  Raise $50 and get a free T-shirt!  Race starts at 8 AM at the intersection of Baltimore Street and Foundry Street.  Need more information?  Please call 410.792.7096 for more details.

Members of the First Baptist Church of Guilford (7504 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, MD) are excited to install Pastor Tyrone P. Jones, IV at 4PM, Sunday, May 20, 2012.  Reverend Jones is a 1998 graduate of Howard University School of Divinity, where he earned a Masters of Divinity degree and was the recipient of the W.O. Carrington Award for Most Gifted Preacher.  He brings 10 years of pastoral experience and is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School (NY).  Rev. Jones is married to Rev.
